Coelacanth

Coelacanths are a primitive fish that everyone considered to have gone extinct with the dinosaurs 65 millions years ago…until a South African trawler brought one up in a net in 1938. The discovery shocked the marine world and reminded us how little we know about what really lives in the deep sea. Coelacanths may be one of the ancestors of life on land, with lobe-like fins that move in an alternating pattern like legs.
